Lauren Bain
Pedagogy and Musicianship Instructor
Lauren Bain teaches K-5 elementary music at Carl Schurz Elementary in New Braunfels. She earned a B.M. in Piano Performance and Music Education from Trinity University in San Antonio. She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Trinity University. Lauren served as the Vice President for the Kodály Educators of Texas (2011-2016), the President (2017-2021), and is currently the Past President. She has presented at OAKE and AOSA national conferences, TMEA, and the 2014 CEDFA Summit, as well as workshops in central and south Texas since 2009. She is the Musicianship and Pedagogy Instructor for the Rio Grande Valley Kodály Program. Lauren received her Kodály certification from Texas State University, and her Orff-Schulwerk certification from Trinity University. She was named the New Braunfels ISD District Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2018, the 2019 Texas Education Agency Region 13 Elementary Teacher of the Year, and was a finalist for the HEB Excellence in Education Award in 2019.

Nick Holland-Garcia
Pedagogy and Musicianship Instructor
Nick Holland-Garcia teaches lower school music at St. Paul’s School in Baltimore, MD. He earned a BM in Vocal Performance from Pacific Lutheran University, a MM in Voice Performance from The University of Michigan, and is currently a PhD student in Music Education at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. His areas of research include vocal pedagogy and LGBTQ+ issues in music education. Nick has presented workshops on topics of classroom pedagogy and technology at regional, state, and national music education conferences. His work in integrating Kodály pedagogy with the interactive white board led to his contribution for a chapter in the second edition of Kodály Today: A Cognitive Approach to Music Education by Micheal Houlahan and Philip Tacka.

Rebecca Juárez
Folk Materials Instructor
Rebecca Lakes Juárez is an elementary music specialist at Huebner Elementary School in North East ISD in San Antonio. She is the Organization is American Kodály Educators Southern Region I representative and co-chair of the 2021 OAKE convention. She is also the Past-President of the Kodály Educators of Texas and the Associate Director of the Prelude Choir for the Children’s Chorus of San Antonio. Rebecca has been teaching music in Texas public schools for 20 years. She has presented workshops at TMEA, OAKE, KET, and for numerous school districts in the state of Texas. Rebecca has a Bachelor of Arts in Flute Performance and a Bachelor of Music Education from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. She has a Master of Music in Pedagogy from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee and Principal Certification from Schreiner University in Kerville, Texas. She completed all of her Kodály levels at Texas State University and all of her Orff levels at Trinity University. Rebecca also teaches Folksong Analysis and Research in the Midwestern State University Kodály certification program.

Sarah Martinez
Conducting Instructor and Choir Director
Sarah Martinez is a fine arts administrator for Pflugerville ISD near Austin, Texas. Previously she taught choir for 6 years and elementary music for 7 years in Texas public schools. She received a Bachelor of Music summa cum laude from Texas State University, where she also completed a masters degree and Kodály Certification. She earned a Doctor of Education degree in Teacher Leadership from Walden University. She has served as the treasurer for the Kodály Educators of Texas and the TMEA Region 26 middle school vocal coordinator. Sarah frequently leads professional development for school districts and at regional, state, and national music education conferences. She also teaches Pedagogy and Music Literature for the secondary track at the Wichita State University Kodály Certification Program.
